Palazzo Giacomelli in via Grazzano is home to the new Ethnological Musuem of Friuli. Its modern displays bring out collections to the public that have long been inaccessabile, as well as new pieces from the recent acquisition of the “Ciceri Collection”. There are three floors dedicated to the themes of everyday traditional life, the sacred, the times, everyday objects, clothing, masks, games, music and theatre, with a wide selection of pieces. There will be spaces for temporary exhibitions and for the use of multimedia supports.
The collections of the Friulian Museum of Popular Arts and Tradition came, for the most part, from the sensibility of individuals who were careful to safeguard objects that are important for the memory of popular culture (single donations, deposits, bequests, assignations). There is a variety in these objects: from the material culture and the world of agriculture to the domestic life of commoners and Lords, from handicrafts to science and costumes to fashions.
Today the “Gaetano Perusini – Lea D’Orlandi” and “Luigi e Andreina Ciceri”funds comprise the heart of the ethnographic collections
